The BUD application provides a video conferencing service tailored for employees who work in classified spaces. Thanks to this application, employees minimise exits and entries from cleanrooms during work, conducting work communication through video chats and group video calls, saving valuable time and expense.

The challenge
The client operates according to the “time is money” paradigm and heavily relies on communication as one of the pillars of scientific progress. One of the main challenges faced by the customer is the problem of the low communication speed.
To enhance more efficient medical service and minimize the number of time-consuming in-person interactions between medics from various teams, the client decided to create an app providing private video conferencing channels. It is developed primarily for medical teams working in closed premises, such as biological laboratories. The app would save time for exiting the laboratories and the disinfection required for medics that are both exiting and returning to a laboratory.
The solution
The BUD Android app is a real salvation for medical workers to reduce contacts so as not to spread the disease or waste time on cleaning before entering a sterile environment. They also don’t need to hold the device in their arms, select the right app to call their colleagues, answer the call manually, or interrupt the main work, and go outside the workplace to have a meeting. So, the BUD Video Conferencing app provides a simple way to perform one-to-one calls and multiconferences, as well as an ability to see who is working in the particular room right now and whether they have a call now or not. Thus, doctors gain time, work comfort, and don’t break away from important matters.
The approach
To create this HIPAA compliant Android application, our professionals utilized the proven Kotlin programming language and AWS as the main data store. Also, during the development, we leveraged the PostgreSQL database.
To work with the third-party camera, we implemented the Camera2 API, and CameraX. The app’s backend part was developed with .NET Core, using Twilio, SignalR, and EntityFramework. There is also Kiosk Mode offered to run the application full-screen.
In addition, we created a frontend part of the Admin panel based on Angular 10 and Bootstrap, and a back-end part based on .NET Core.
Benefits
Our professional team has created an Android app for video calls in a special environment, optimizing it for a specific device, following all the requirements and wishes of the customer. Also, we took care of the client data protection and provided BUD with HIPAA compliance. In addition, the final product is easy to use due to its simple and versatile interface, which was developed by our best design specialists. But the most important is our joint contribution to medical progress, which will greatly simplify the work of real heroes.
