Private: Apple Watch Financial App Prototype

During this research, our team has tested whether new Apple Watch OS 2 is suitable for secure financial app usage. The parts of the app that we’re going to show is in theory could become a foundation of a full-fledged financial app, so it might be quite interesting for those, who are working on the same type of apps.

The task was to detect if the watch in its current state is providing basic possibilities to secure the data, that stored on the internal memory of the device.

Before we started, our business analyst developed a couple of scenarios, that will help us to measure practicability of development of theoretical app:

• Testing new WatchOS 2 code execution and encryption features and data transfer speeds.
• Testing whether heart and light sensors are secure enough to entrust sensitive data to the watch

In the end, we’ve tried several methods of data deletion, once the user takes the watch off, but the software is still feels raw and doesn’t provide necessary level of security.
